The combined organic phase was dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, filtered, and evaporated under reduced pressure, the obtained product was purified by preparative high performance liquid chromatography (1: 1 petroleum ether / ethyl acetate, Rf = 0.7) to give the product 1-(5-methylthiazol-2-yl)ethanone (1.45 g of, as a yellow solid), yield: 51%.
