To a solution of 2-propen-1 -yl {2-chloro-3-[(2-chloro-4- pyrimidinyl)acetyl]phenyl}carbamate (1 .4 g, 3.82 mmol) in N,N- dimethylacetamide (DMA) (10 ml) was added NBS (0.714 g, 4.01 mmol). The reaction was then heated to 60 C for 2 h. The reaction mixture was charged with EtOAc and H2O. The EtOAc layer was washed with water, brine, and concentrated. The residue waschromatographed on a silica gel column and eluted with EtOAc/hexanes to obtain 2-propen-1 -yl {2-chloro-3-[5-(2-chloro-4-pyrimidinyl)-2-(1 ,1 – dimethylethyl)-1 ,3-thiazol-4-yl]phenyl}carbamate (1 .17 g, 59.4 % yield).
