Diethyl azodicarboxylate (350.0 muL, 0.002223 mol) was added over 2-3min and the mixture was stirred at 50 C. for 30 minutes. The cooled mixture was evaporated and the residue purified by silica gel chromatography, eluting with 10 to 100% ethyl acetate in hexanes, to yield the product as a white solid, 636 mg (66%). LC/MS: Rt=2.55 min, ES+ 657 (AA standard).
