To a mixture of 5-amino-2-methylbenzenesulfonamide (20 gm) in ethanol (208 ml) and tetrahydrofuran (52 ml) was added 2,4-dichloropryrimidine (44 gm) and sodium bicarbonate (36 gm) at room temperature. The contents were heated to 70 to 75¡ã C. and maintained for 13 hours. The reaction mass was then cooled to 10¡ã C. and maintained for 2 hours.
