To a suspension of 17 (2.00 g, 23.5 mmol) in n-BuOAc (20 mL) at 40-50 C was added 2-bromoacetyl bromide 18b (5.23 g, 25.9 mmol) dropwise, and the mixture was heated to 80 C and stirred for 5 min. Calcd for C6H8NO2Br; C, 34.98; H, 3.91; N, 6.80; Br, 38.78. Found: C, 34.83; H, 3.78; N, 6.80; Br, 38.95.
